Blankets of white glistening snow
Still reflect the hints and glints
Of the full moon outside of my window
I wonder how much life was smothered
And how much life was preserved
By the diamond crusted blankets of snow
My thoughts then turn to these blankets
Layer upon layer these earth toned fabrics
Serve their purpose in providing me warmth
I wonder how many thoughts and emotions
Do these tightly woven pieces of cloth smother
When one is forced to sleep alone on a cold night
Blankets of white glistening snow
Cover quite a multitude of objects dead and dormant
But at least they are not alone under their blankets
I wonder what life would reveal to me
If I were to crawl out from under these blankets
And crawl under the blankets of hardened snow
My thoughts now wander out of my window
And as I lift those cold frozen blankets I think
That at least under the snow I would not be alone
